The Walton Family Foundation committed around $71.8 million to environmental initiatives in 2010. The grants were mainly made to organizations and programs that pursue lasting conservation outcomes in ocean and river systems to benefit people and wildlife.

Of the total money, the foundation invested around $22.8 million in freshwater conservation and $36.34 million in marine conservation. Additionally, the foundation invested about $13 million in 2010 in organizations and programs for other environment-related efforts.
