Ares Management has taken over the investment platform of commercial real estate investment firm Wrightwood Capital. More than 40 Wrightwood executives have moved to Ares Private Debt Group to be part of the Chicago-based Ares Commercial Real Estate (ACRE) and manage lending in the commercial real estate sector. ACRE will be headed by John Bartling, a senior partner of ACRE and global head of real estate at Ares Management and by Bruce Cohen, former Wrightwood CEO and newly appointed senior partner of ACRE. The ACRE investment team will handle Wrightwood’s commercial real estate assets and sponsored funds.
