Anirudha Dutta seizes second place. The CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets analyst, who also ties for first place in Airlines, in February upgraded Pantaloon Retail (India) from underperform — the position he’d held since May 2008 — to outperform, at 242.80 rupees, as the Mumbai-based retailer’s same-store sales started to rally. The shares had zipped to Rs263.35 by the end of May, a gain of 8.5 percent that beat the broad market by 2.3 percentage points. “Dutta always stays one step ahead,” proclaims one impressed investor.
