Irish Central Bank Hires Deputy Governor

The Central Bank of Ireland has appointed Stefan Gerlach as deputy governor.

The Central Bank of Ireland has appointed Stefan Gerlach as deputy governor, Reuters reports. He will work along with fellow deputy governor Matthew Elderfield, adds Irish Times. Gerlach will succeed outgoing Tony Grimes to manage central banking functions.

Most recently, Gerlach served as professor of monetary economics and managing director of the Institute for Monetary Policy and Financial Stability at the University of Frankfurt. He has also worked at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority as a chief economist.
