Borrowers have become increasingly successful in blocking foreclosures of their homes by claiming banks cannot prove their mortgage companies own the loans. Lately, courts have been siding more with homeowners, who have argued that banks did not properly assign ownership of the mortgages after they were packaged into mortgage-backed securities.
