The Community Foundation of Northern Illinois has re-introduced the Carroll Starr Endowment Challenge Grants.

The Community Foundation of Northern Illinois has re-introduced the Carroll Starr Endowment Challenge Grants, WIFR reports. The grants will help the non-profit sector by creating self-sufficiency through permanent endowments to avoid crises from shortages and unforeseen financial situations.

The Community Foundation will pay $1, up to $50,000, for every $3 raised by chosen non-profits during the Challenge Grant duration. The program has been named after businessman Carroll Starr, who served the trust until 1963. The first Carroll H Starr Challenge Grants were offered by the Community Foundation in 2001.
