The Illinois Teachers’ Retirement System is planning to allocate about $0.9-1.4 billion to private equity in fiscal 2012.

The Illinois Teachers’ Retirement System is planning to allocate about $0.9-1.4 billion to private equity in fiscal 2012, Pensions & Investments reports. The system will assign about 60-80% of the total commitment to corporate finance/leveraged buyout, 5-20% to venture capital and 10-25% to special situations.

As part of the allocation, Illinois Teachers’ has awarded a $107 million mandate to the EQT VI fund, managed by private equity manager EQT Funds Management. The system also awarded a $75 million mandate to the Black River Food fund, managed by Black River Asset Management.
