Wal-Mart Foundation Commits $25M To Kids

Wal-Mart Stores and the Wal-Mart Foundation have allocated $25 million to expand 2011 summer services for kids.

Wal-Mart Stores and the Wal-Mart Foundation have allocated $25 million to expand 2011 summer services for kids. Nearly 350 local nonprofit organizations will receive the funding that will be used to help expand nutrition, learning and employment services for elementary, middle and high school students throughout the summer months.

In fiscal-year 2011, Wal-Mart and its foundation have contributed $732 million in cash as well as in-kind gifts in the U.S. and $66.8 million in other countries, adds Reuters. The company and its foundation provided $316 million in cash and $480 million in in-kind contributions in the fiscal year that ended on January 31.
