Carlyle Group Plans $1B IPO

Carlyle Group is planning to launch an initial public offering.

Carlyle Group is planning to launch an initial public offering (IPO), Bloomberg reports. The private equity firm may raise about $1 billion form the offering. The firm has not yet disclosed the names of the underwriters managing the offering.

Carlyle expects to file the IPO in the third quarter of 2011. Carlyle had an implied value of about $6 billion in June 2010 based on a 5.5% stake sale in 2001, which was valued at about $334 million, adds Economic Times.
