Dow Jones Indexes has unveiled a new commodity index. The Dow Jones Global Commodity Equity 100 Index will measure the stock performance of companies carrying out exploration or production of both scarce and renewable commodities.
The sectors represented by the index are agriculture, energy, metals, precious metals and water. The series also consists of four sub-indexes, the Dow Jones Global Equity Agriculture Index, the Dow Jones Global Equity Energy Index, the Dow Jones Global Equity Scarcity Index and the Dow Jones Islamic Market Global Equity Commodity Index.
