BofA Appoints MENA Head

Bank of America Merrill Lynch has hired Phil Southwell as chief of its Middle East and North Africa operations.

Bank of America Merrill Lynch has hired Phil Southwell as chief of its Middle East and North Africa (MENA) operations, The Wall Street Journal reports. He will work under Andrea Orcel, the bank’s executive chairman of global banking and markets as well as president of emerging markets, ex-Asia.

Based in Dubai, Southwell will join the emerging markets, ex-Asia, executive committee. Previously, he was working with regional investment bank, EFG-Hermes Holding, as CEO for the Gulf Cooperation Council region.
