Venture capital investment in cleantech companies have boosted by 54% to $1.14 billion in the first quarter of 2011, according to an analysis by Ernst & Young.

Venture capital investment in cleantech companies have boosted by 54% to $1.14 billion in the first quarter of 2011, according to an analysis by Ernst & Young. The top 10 deals in the quarter totaled $683.1 million, 60% of the total raised for the quarter and two deals accounted for 18% of the total dollars raised. The Energy / Electricity Generation segment, led by solar investments, secured $450.3 million in investments in the first quarter of 2011. Later-stage companies have raised about $721.6 million, representing 67% of the total quarterly investment in Q1 2011.
