China Allows U.S. banks To Sell MFs

U.S. banks will be allowed to sell mutual funds and provide custody services in China.

U.S. banks will be allowed to sell mutual funds and provide custody services in China, The Asset reports. The move will not alter the Chinese banks’ market dominance in the local mutual fund and custody market. Currently, only domestic banks and locally-incorporated subsidiaries of overseas banks are allowed to sell mutual funds in China. Overseas financial institutions currently can access the Chinese domestic funds market only through joint ventures with local institutions.
