SEC Names Chief Economist, RiskFin Head

The Securities and Exchange Commission has appointed Craig Lewis as chief economist and director of the division of risk, strategy and financial innovation.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has appointed Craig Lewis as chief economist and director of the division of risk, strategy and financial innovation (RiskFin). Lewis, who is currently a visiting scholar at the SEC, will assume his new role in June 2011. He will not only lead SEC’s team of economists, but will also help inject data-driven analysis into the SEC’s decision-making process. Lewis was most recently working as a finance professor at Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management.
