The Jacksonville City Council is planning to invest in hedge funds and other alternative investments, FINalternatives reports. It may invest in short-sellers and increase its allocation to alternatives to 10%.
At present, the pension has a 5% cap, but has never invested in a hedge or private equity fund. A bill may also allow the pension to raise the amount of foreign investment it can make from 25% of its holdings to 35%, adds Florida Times-Union.
