UniCredit Drops AM Unit Sale

UniCredit has called off plans to sell its asset management unit, Pioneer Investments.

UniCredit has called off plans to sell its asset management unit, Pioneer Investments, The Wall Street Journal reports. After considering various options, the Italian bank has decided to make the business grow and improve the quality of its product offering. In May 2010, UniCredit had appointed Merrill Lynch to review strategic options for Pioneer. Amundi of France’s Credit Agricole and Societe Generale, Natixis and Resolution of the U.K. were considered as the possible buyers of Pioneer.
