CFTC To Propose Swaps Definition Plan

The U.S. futures regulator, Commodity Futures Trading Commission will issue its swaps definition proposal on April 27, 2011.

The U.S. futures regulator, Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), will issue its swaps definition proposal on April 27, 2011. The agency will propose capital requirements for swap dealers and major swap participants at its 14th rule-making session.

The proposal will also include protection of Cleared Swaps Customer Contracts and Collateral and Conforming Amendments to the commodity broker bankruptcy provisions. CFTC will also propose product definitions contained in Title VII of the Dodd-Frank Act as well as amendments to adapt certain of its regulations to the Dodd-Frank Act.
