Silver Lake Partners will buy memory-chip maker, Smart Modular Technologies, in a cash deal of about $645 million, The Wall Street Journal reports. The private investment firm will pay $9.25 per share in cash for the acquisition.

Barclays Capital is serving as financial adviser for the transaction, which is anticipated to close in the third quarter. The transaction has debt financing commitments from JP Morgan and UBS Investment Bank and some of their affiliates, adds Reuters.
