European pension funds are likely to get reprieve from new European Union regulations governing derivatives trading, Financial News reports. The U.K. Treasury, which is in talks with authorities to ease the impact of the rule, is expected to win a three-year exemption from the rules. As per the new rules, the majority of deals will have to be cleared via a central counterparty and assets will need to be pledged as collateral. Pension schemes along with property firms, real estate investment funds and insurance firms are seeking an exemption from the clearing requirement.
