BrightSource Gets $1.6B Solar Plant Loan

BrightSource Energy has secured $1.6 billion of financing for its Ivanpah solar plant in the California desert.

BrightSource Energy has secured $1.6 billion of financing for its Ivanpah solar plant in the California desert, The Wall Street Journal reports. The U.S. solar power plant builder has obtained the loan guarantee from the U.S. energy department. NRG Energy is planning to invest $300 million in the project which has received an investment worth $168 million from Google. The project, whose construction has already begun, will be completed in 2013.
