Jefferies To Buy Prudential Derivs Unit

Jefferies Group is seeking to acquire Prudential Financial’s commodities and financial-derivatives unit.

Jefferies Group is seeking to acquire Prudential Financial’s commodities and financial-derivatives unit, The Wall Street Journal reports. The New York-based financial group has offered $400 million for Prudential Bache’s Global Commodities Group.

After the completion of the deal, the business will be renamed Jefferies Bache. The CEO and Chairman of the new company will be Patrice Blanc, who joined Jefferies as the president of the Jefferies futures division from Newedge last year, adds Financial Times.
