Bancassurer ING Groep is set to sell its Latin American insurance unit for nearly $3 billion to repay its Dutch state aid.

Bancassurer ING Groep is set to sell its Latin American insurance unit for nearly $3 billion to repay its Dutch state aid, Reuters reports. ING has appointed Goldman Sachs to solicit offers. Companies including U.S. insurers Prudential Financial and MetLife are the potential bidders for the firm’s business. Brazilian banks, such as Bradesco and Itau Unibanco, and European insurers, including Axa, Generali and Allianz may also be interested in the insurance unit.
