Barclays is said to be in advanced stages of investigating a possible move of its headquarters from the U.K. to the U.S., reports The Wall Street Journal.

Barclays is said to be in advanced stages of investigating a possible move of its headquarters from the U.K. to the U.S. Sources said no decision would be made before September, when the direction of U.K. financial regulation as well as key elements of the Dodd-Frank Act in the U.S. becomes clearer. As a large bank, Barclays is facing higher capital requirements in the U.K. than those of its smaller peers, which could hurt its competitiveness, as well as structural reform that could force it to spin off some of its units.
