Clearstream will add Malta to its settlement network on April 11, 2011, Mondovisione reports. The Malta Stock Exchange (MSE) will operate the new cross-border settlement link and allow international investors to access Maltese securities.
The link connects the Maltese bourse with Clearstream Banking Frankfurt (CBF), the central securities depository for the German domestic market. CBF clients can settle the securities between themselves and hold them in collective safe custody like any other German security. Maltese securities may also be used for collateral purposes.
