Range Resources will raise about $900 million from the sale of its Barnett Shale properties in Texas, The Wall Street Journal reports. The deal is expected to be completed by April 2011. The sale proceeds will be used to develop areas with higher returns.

Range Resources will retain some non-producing acreage in the Barnett Shale valued at about $50 million, adds Reuters. Range Resources seeks to focus on its Marcellus Shale operations, which has received a capital budget of $1.38 billion for 2011.
