The House Financial Services Committee has voted to shut down the Department of the Treasury’s Home Affordable Modification Program and the Neighborhood Stabilization Program before it late 2012 expiration date, reports Housing Wire.

The House Financial Services Committee has voted to shut down the Department of the Treasury’s Home Affordable Modification Program and the Neighborhood Stabilization Program before it late 2012 expiration date. HAMP has been criticized by lawmakers from both parties for going too easy on underperforming servicers, and for falling far short of its goal to assist up to 4 million homeowners.
