French insurer, Scor, is in discussions to acquire Aegon’s Transamerica Reinsurance unit.

French insurer, Scor, is in discussions to acquire Aegon’s Transamerica Reinsurance unit, Bloomberg reports. The Paris-based firm has emerged as the frontrunner over Missouri-based Reinsurance Group of America for the unit. Aegon, which raised $1.26 billion in a share sale last month, announced its plans to sell the reinsurance unit of Transamerica last year, adds Reuters. Aegon acquired Transamerica as part of the purchase of California-based Transamerica in 1999.
