The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has nominated Verena Ross for the position of executive director or CEO. The new director, who will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Paris-based ESMA, will serve a term of five years that will be renewable once.Ross is currently working as director of the international division at the U.K. Financial Services Authority (FSA). She is also a member of the FSA’s executive and the executive policy and risk committees. Ross has also worked with Bank of England as an economist.
