Former London Stock Exchange (LSE) CEO, Dame Clara Furse, will head a U.K. government study into high-frequency trading, Financial Times reports. The study will be sponsored by the treasury and led by the Government Office for Science under the direction of the government’s chief scientific adviser, John Beddington.

The study aims to make a contribution to the efficiency, integrity and resilience of financial markets, by identifying options for policy makers in the U.K. and globally. The LSE estimates that nearly a quarter of its trades are executed through high-frequency systems.
