CFTC May Stagger Swaps-Regs Effective Date

Gary Gensler, chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, said the CFTC may stagger the effective dates for new regulations governing the swaps market, reports Bloomberg.

Gary Gensler, chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, said the CFTC may stagger the effective dates for new regulations governing the swaps market. In remarks to the American Bar Association meeting in Florida, Gensler said 11 financial-industry groups had asked regulators to slow the implementation of the rules under the Dodd-Frank act.
