Huawei Ends Bid For 3Leaf Deal

Huawei Technologies has ended its bid to win U.S. approval for a deal to acquire assets and technology from 3Leaf Systems.

Huawei Technologies has ended its bid to win U.S. approval for a deal to acquire assets and technology from 3Leaf Systems, The Wall Street Journal reports. The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, which reviews acquisitions by foreign companies that may have national-security implications, advised against the deal.

3Leaf formed a technology that allows groups of computers to work together like a more powerful machine and Huawei paid $2 million to acquire intellectual property, other assets and some staff from 3Leaf in May. Due to security concerns, the Chinese company failed in 2010 to win part of a big network upgrade by Sprint Nextel.
