Debuting in third place is the J.P. Morgan Cazenove quartet led by newcomer Davide Silvestrini. Last April the team issued a buy call on Germany’s DAX 30 index and, at the same time, a sell call on the Euro Stoxx 50 index, because the DAX is heavily weighted toward exporters and light on banks, while the euro zone benchmark is just the opposite. By the end of the year, the DAX had risen 10.9 percent; the Euro Stoxx 50 had fallen 6.2 percent. “They are the most relevant and knowledgeable on the plumbing of European financial markets,” according to one buy-side enthusiast.
