Jarrod Castle and Dominic Edridge captain their seven-member UBS crew from runner-up to third place. In September 2009, encouraged by rising air-travel demand, they initiated coverage on Spain’s Iberia, Líneas Aéreas de España with a buy rating, calling the shares a bargain at €2.08. Two months later, Iberia announced plans to merge with British Airways; the two carriers signed a definitive agreement last April. By year-end 2010, Iberia’s stock had soared 53.4 percent, to €3.19. “They were the best at highlighting the big recovery in airline traffic and the better pricing the industry could achieve,” cheers one grateful constituent. The merger was completed last month.
