Alcoa To Buy TransDigm Unit For $240M

Alcoa will acquire the aerospace fastener business of global engineered aircraft components designer, producer and supplier, TransDigm Group.

Alcoa will acquire the aerospace fastener business of global engineered aircraft components designer, producer and supplier, TransDigm Group. The primary and fabricated aluminum producer will pay a total of about $240 million for the acquisition.

The transaction is expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2011. After the acquisition, employment levels of the company will remain the same. TransDigm acquired the fastener business when it bought McKechnie Aerospace in December 2010.
