Down one notch to third place is the UBS duo led by Eva Quiroga, whom one money manager insists is “the best-connected analyst on the Street.” The researchers told clients to buy French cosmetics maker L’Oréal Group, but the call came several months later — and at a lower price — than the analyst in this year’s No. 2 spot. The UBS team made its recommendation in May, at €72.24, largely on the strength of the company’s improving fundamentals. The stock surged 15 percent, to €83.08, through December.
