Host Buys NY Helmsley Hotel For $310M

Host Hotels & Resorts has acquired the New York Helmsley hotel from the estate of Leona Helmsley.

Host Hotels & Resorts has acquired the New York Helmsley hotel from the estate of Leona Helmsley, The Wall Street Journal reports. The real estate lodging owner paid over $310 million for the acquisition. The estate is being represented by CB Richard Ellis on the transaction. Helmsley, who inherited her husband’s real-estate assets, valued at about $5 billion, died in 2007. Since then her estate has been selling assets, with most of the proceeds going to the Leona M and Harry B Helmsley Charitable Trust.
