FBR Shutters Prime Brokerage Ops

Investment bank FBR Capital Markets is exiting the prime brokerage business.

Investment bank FBR Capital Markets is exiting the prime brokerage business, The New York Times reports. The firm is closing the “mini” prime brokerage operation it had started in August 2009.

The division specialized in servicing small hedge funds. The firm had appointed Michael Murray and Matthew Ventura from Los Angeles-based Shoreline Trading as managing directors.
