Moody’s Backs Private/Public GSE Model

Moody’s Investors Service supports replacing the current model for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac with one that combines private-sector and public components, reports Nasdaq.

Moody’s Investors Service supports replacing the current model for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac with one that combines private-sector and public components. Brian Harris, an s.v.p. at Moody’s said, “While the government will be looking to ensure consistent access to affordable mortgage credit, it will also seek to limit its role in the housing finance market to reduce the risk of future taxpayer bailouts.”
