ESMA Appoints Chairman

The European Securities and Markets Authority has named Steven Maijoor as its Chairman.

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has named Steven Maijoor as its Chairman, Financial News reports. At present, Maijoor is a director at Dutch regulator, the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets.

In his new role, he will manage the European Market Infrastructure Legislation, and the next version of Mifid. ESMA, the new version of the Committee of European Securities Regulators, was launched by the European Commission on January 1.
