Morgan Stanley Appoints Operating Chief

Morgan Stanley has appointed Jim Rosenthal as its COO.

Morgan Stanley has appointed Jim Rosenthal as its COO, The Wall Street Journal reports. Rosenthal’s additional responsibilities include handling the New York investment bank’s technology, human resources, marketing and communications.

He has replaced Tom Nides, who has become a deputy to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Rosenthal will continue to manage strategy at the firm and serve as the COO of Morgan Stanley’s brokerage joint venture with Citigroup. He joined the firm from Tishman Speyer in March 2008.
