Hungary Urges Banks To Swap Franc Loans

The Hungarian financial regulator has asked banks to help consumers switch loans denominated in Swiss francs to euros.

The Hungarian financial regulator has asked banks to help consumers switch loans denominated in Swiss francs to euros, Bloomberg reports. Switching loans to euros will make monthly installments more stable and predictable, according to PSZAF. Most Hungarian banks offering foreign currency-denominated loans are owned by lenders based in the euro region and can get funding easier in euros than in francs, added the watchdog. It has asked banks to apply the same considerations for Japanese yen and dollar loans.
