After graduating from Tufts University with an MA in international relations, Bonanca, 37, was going to join the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace when, at the urging of a professor, he applied for and won a Fulbright Scholarship. He attended the Institute for European Studies at the Free University of Brussels, where he studied international economics, just after the signing of the Maastricht Treaty.
Bonanca next headed to the New York Fed and then moved to Credit Suisse, where he was chief forex strategist, before joining New Yorkbased MKP in summer 2008.
