Formerly principal and CFO of hedge fund firm Satellite Asset Management, Matthew DesChamps is part of a generation of hedge fund pros who grasp the importance of back-­office and operational infrastructure. As a result, the 39-year-old was recently tapped by Mark Carhart, onetime co-head of quantitative strategies at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, to be COO at Carhart’s new firm, New York–based Kepos Capital. Before joining Satellite, DesChamps, who has an MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business, worked in the equity finance group at Morgan Stanley. He began his career as a senior associate with accounting firm Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers).
