Arvind Raghunathan

Arvind Raghunathan presided over one of the largest hedge fund start-ups of 2009 when he launched his firm, the $1 billion, New York–based Roc Capital Management.

Arvind Raghunathan, 46, a former managing director and head of global arbitrage at Deutsche Bank, presided over one of the largest hedge fund start-ups of 2009 when he launched his firm, the $1 billion, New York–based Roc Capital Management. Over 12 years, Raghunathan had one of the best internal track records at Deutsche, and he is highly regarded by the quant world. What’s more, he was able to preserve capital in 2008. Now CEO of Roc Capital, Raghunathan earned a degree in engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras. He then moved to the U.S. and received a Ph.D. in computer science from U.C. Berkeley, in 1988. For the next three years, he was an assistant professor at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at NYU and at U.C. Davis.
