Susan Small, head of consultant relations at Nicholas-Applegate Capital Management, left the firm after eight years to join Deutsche Asset Management as head of consultant relations globally, a new position, as MML first reported Sept. 15. She reports to Roelfien Kuijpers, global head of institutional business, who previously oversaw consultant relations. Small’s hire is not connected to the departure of Amy Lesch, who left her role as managing director of U.S. consultant relations at DeAM in January to join Citigroup Alternative Investments. Small, who is based in Chicago, and Mayura Hooper, spokeswoman for DeAM, declined to comment.

At NACM, Small’s responsibilities have been spread among the firm’s sales and consultant relations team, led by Managing Director Ranjit Sufi. The firm is recruiting to hire a couple of senior marketing professionals and may also add a junior person to both replace Small and grow the team, said Susan Hunter, spokeswoman.
