Ann Combs, who has headed the Department of Labor‘s Employee Benefits Security Administration since the Bush Administration took over in 2001, could leave her post at the end of October, according to people familiar with her plans.

Combs’ departure would come as EBSA faces the task of writing regulations to implement the recently-signed Pension Protection Act. As a result, the regulations could be delayed.
