Citigroup Private Bank Europe has tapped Shilpa Thanki-Green, formerly executive director of International Global Wealth Management at Morgan Stanley, as cfo for Europe effective August 15. The addition is part of Citi’s plans to round out its European top management team, further develop its onshore offerings and tap into the next generation of entrepreneurs in the market.

Thanki-Green, who is on gardening leave and could not be reached for comment, will be in charge of all reporting and finance matters throughout Europe. Her hire comes on the heels of Citi PB adding another Morgan Stanley exec, Ernest Boles, to a new slot as cio for Europe (PAM, 5/19).

Thanki-Green, who joined Morgan Stanley in 1998, was most recently responsible for the financial review of the firm’s wealth management business throughout Europe, Asia and Latin America overseeing a team of 25 professionals. She joined Morgan from PricewaterhouseCoopers’ U.K. audit division.

Citi PB Europe currently has a presence in the U.K., Spain, Italy, Greece and Switzerland, but also services clients in Central and Eastern Europe and Russia. Based in London, Thanki-Green reports dually to Marianne Hay, ceo of Citi Global Wealth Management Europe, and New York-based Jeff Kraus, cfo of GWM.
