SEC Sets New Regulation NMS Compliance Dates

The Securities and Exchange Commission has delayed the compliance dates of Regulation NMS

The Securities and Exchange Commission has delayed the compliance dates of Regulation NMS. The move, says the SEC, comes in an effort to give exchanges more time to develop new trading systems, and the securities industry time to establish access to these systems. Instead of one compliance date – originally June 29 – the SEC has set a series of five, beginning with Oct. 16 (the final date for publishing final technical specifications for the trading systems), Feb. 5, 2007 (final date for full operation of the systems), May 21, 2007 (beginning of full industry compliance with Rule 610 and 611 for 250 NMS stocks), July 9, 2007 (beginning of industry compliance for all remaining NMS stocks) and Oct 8, 2007 (final compliance date).
