Spain strongly supports Vietnam’s bid for World Trade Organization membership, as well as the country’s candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council. Spanish King Juan Carlos I assured new Vietnamese Ambassador to Spain Do Ngoc Son of his country’s support at a reception on July 3, which also saw the participation of the Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos Cuyaube.
The King stressed that Spain is willing to expand its cooperative ties with Vietnam and extended his thanks to the high-ranking leaders of Vietnam as well as the people for their warm welcome and hospitality towards the King and the Queen during their recent visit to the country.

He pointed to the need for the two countries to quickly implement agreements reached by the two sides during the visit, particularly those relating to industry, tourism and education. For his part, the Ambassador confirmed Vietnam’s determination to continue to foster cooperative ties in the common interest of the two countries in a wide range of sectors, but focusing mainly on economy, trade, tourism, culture and education.
Earlier the same day, the Ambassador presented his credentials to the King.
