Only half of mutual funds provide investors and advisers the tools they need to help them with asset allocation, according to Corporate Insight. “We believe the overall value of an asset allocation tool is directly correlated with [investor] level of sophistication,” said Chris McNeil, the senior analyst at Corporate Insight who wrote the report. McNeil added that of firms that do provide asset allocation tools, less than half of them “put all the pieces together to provide valuable resources for both clients and prospective investors alike.” He noted that the most useful tools were those that allow users “to create comparisons between current and target portfolios.”
